Lake Elsinore closes facilities

Lake Elsinore has closed all city facilities in response to the surge in COVID-19 infections caused by the Omicron variant.

The shutdown, which began Wednesday, includes city hall, the senior center, the Dream Extreme Neighborhood Center and the Lake Community. Center.

Launch Pointe, the camping and recreational vehicle park at 32040 Riverside Drive, is still open.

All services are still available through the Citizen Self-Service Portal  or by calling (951) 674-3124.

Riverside County added 5,610 new COVID-19 cases between Dec. 30 and Jan. 3.

That is up nearly 94 percent compared to Dec. 23 through Dec. 27 when 2,899 COVID-19 cases were added. The COVID-19 transmission rate in Riverside County is estimated to be 1.82, meaning every infected person in the county, on average, is transmitting the virus to nearly two other people, according to the statement.
