Metrolink station to be upgraded

Perris’ South Metrolink Station will get a $24 million makeover.

The facility at 1304 Case Road will get a second passenger platform and additional track, its existing platform will be extended to allow for eight-car Metrolink trains, and pedestrian safety will be upgraded, according to statement.

Also, the station’s layover facility will be expanded so that more trains can be stored there overnight.

The improvements are being done to accommodate increased commuter demand along the State Route 91/Perris Valley Line, and will be paid for with local funding. Granite Construction in Watsonville, which has done multiple projects in Riverside and San Bernardino counties, will be the construction company.

Granite recently completed a similar project 13 miles away at March Field Station in Moreno Valley, according to the statement.
