Chaffey College has opened a $75 million building that is home to a library, classrooms, and study spaces.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held recently to mark the official opening of the the Library Learning Commons, a three-story structure that covers 76,000 square feet, according to a school statement.
The building includes 27 study rooms, 136 computer terminals and about 60,000 books. Construction began in the summer of 2023.
“This building will no doubt serve countless generations of students and help them on the way to academic success,” said Henry Shannon, Chaffey College’s superintendent and president, in the statement. “We are excited to officially open our Library Learning Commons.”
The building was paid for with funds from Measure P, a $700 million bond approved by voters in November 2018 to pay for the expansion of Chaffey College.
