On The Move

Robin Steinback has been named president of Moreno Valley College.

Steinback, the school’s vice president of academic affairs, will take over as its top administrator July 1, according to a statement on the school’s website.

The Riverside Community College District’s board of trustees appointed the 57-year-old Steinback on Tuesday. She will replace Sandra Mayo, who stepped down in 2016.

Steinback was reportedly one of three finalists for the job.

“As a first generation college student I know firsthand how transformative community colleges can be in the lives of students and to the social and economic development of our communities, such as the communities Moreno Valley College serves,” Steinback said in the statement.

“I am excited about the opportunity to continue as president of Moreno Valley in order to work with the faculty and staff on behalf of students, present and future.

Steinback began her career in community college education 32 years ago at Mt. San Jacinto College, where she was adjunct professor, associate sociology professor and dean of instruction. She has held her current position at Moreno Valley College since 2013, according to the statement.
