ONT nearly back to pre-pandemic passenger levels

ONT has flat April

Ontario International Airport had a less-than-spectacular month in April, posting a modest drop in its passenger count but a gain in the amount of cargo it hauled.

The airport accommodated 574,504 passengers last month, a year-over-year decline of 0.2 percent, according to the Ontario International Airport Authority.

At the same time, the airport handled 74,876 tons of freight and mail, a 5.3 percent increase compared with April 2025, the airport’s governing body reported.

“Our April passenger level remained steady despite the volatility felt across the aviation sector speaks to the resilience of air travel through our regional gateway,” said Atif Elkadi, the authority’s chief executive officer, in the statement, “Ontario International has been the fastest-growing of the 10 largest airports in California since the pandemic.”

During the first four months of 2026, 2.1 million air travelers passed through the gates at Ontario International, an increase of nearly three percent compared with the same period in 2025, the authority reported.
