Ontario International Airport’s passenger growth streak is over.
The airport accommodated 599,086 air travelers in September, a 1.1 percent year-over-year drop, according to the Ontario International Airport Authority.
Although a small decline, it marked the end of Ontario International’s consecutive months of passenger growth at 54.
Atif Alkadi, the authority’s chief executive officer, downplayed the end of the streak which began in April 2021 and lasted four and a half years.
“Fifty-four months of consecutive growth is something few airports can claim,” Elkadi said in a statement. “A streak may pause, but our purpose never does. This is the beginning of our next chapter.”
Domestic passengers totaled 4,885,308 in September, a decrease of 0.3 percent. International travel rose by 17 percent, to 393,008 passengers.
Ontario International handled more than 5.2 million passengers during the first nine months of 2025, a 0.8 percent year-over-year increase. Cargo volume expanded to more then 600,000 tons, a one percent month-over-month increase, the airport authority announced.
