Luis Portillo has been appointed San Bernardino’s economic development director.
Portillo has spent more than 20 years working in economic development, regional partnerships, public policy and corporate affairs, according to a statement on the city’s website.
He began working in San Bernardino July 6.
“Luis brings a record of collaboration, strategic leadership and economic development experience that will be valuable as San Bernardino continues to build on its momentum,” said City Manager Eric Levitt in the statement, “His understanding of the Inland Empire, relationships with regional partners and track record of helping businesses will support the city’s efforts to create jobs and attract investment.”
Most recently, Portillo was president and chief executive officer of the San Gabriel Valley Economic Partnership, according to the statement.
