Prime Healthcare Foundation in Ontario has added a hospital to its portfolio.
Central Maine Healthcare is the 21st hospital in the nationwide health system, according to a statement released by Prime Healthcare Feb. 16.
The transaction includes one medical center, two hospitals, a community center, a cancer care center and more than 40 physician practices.
Details of the transaction, one of the largest healthcare investments in Maine’s history, were not disclosed.
Prime Healthcare now has hospitals in eight states that combined have provided more than $4 billion in charity healthcare.
“Prime Healthcare Foundation was selected to steward these hospitals into the future after a comprehensive evaluation,” said Devore Culver, chairman of the Central Maine Healthcare board of directors, in the statement. “We are confident this partnership secures a stable, vibrant future for healthcare in central Maine.”
Prime Healthcare is now the sole corporate member, and parent organization, of Central Main Healthcare, according the statement.
