The Riverside Transit Agency has launched its hydrogen fueling station and zero-emission hydrogen-powered buses.
The introduction of those five vehicles at the agency’s Riverside headquarters, are the start of its move from gas-powered to zero-emission buses, according to an agency statement.
“It has been a top priority for the RTA board of directors to bring Riverside County residents a greener public transportation service, and we’re proud to have reached this monumental milestone,” said Jim Steiner, the agency’s board chair and a Corona city council member, in the statement.
“The transition to zero-emission technology is a major investment in our county and in our workforce training. We’re proud to embrace the future of eco-friendly transportation and do our part to reduce our environmental impact.”
The project was paid for with state, federal and local funding, according to the statement.
