Strykers return to the field

The Empire Strykers have officially returned to the field as preparations begin for a serious championship run in the Major Arena Soccer League.

The team’s early training sessions—known as “kick-arounds”—began September 2, and will continue three mornings each week through the end of the month at the Scheu Family YMCA of Upland. These sessions mark the first step in preparing the Strykers for the upcoming season and their pursuit of a Major Arena Soccer League championship.

While the team begins putting in the work on the field, the Strykers will remain equally active throughout the Inland Empire community.

This month, players and staff will visit families at Ronald McDonald House Charities Inland Empire and spend time with young patients at Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital. The team will also return to Marsell Wellness Center in Fontana later this month for another youth event focused on soccer, physical activity and healthy lifestyle choices.

“Working with Marsell has been impactful for both the Strykers players and the children who participate in the clinics,” said Ashley Cole, Director of Community Relations for the Empire Strykers. “These events allow us to teach important soccer skills while encouraging children to make healthy lifestyle choices.”

From preparing for championship competition to creating meaningful experiences for local children and families, September promises to be an important month for the Empire Strykers both on and off the field.
