The Salvation Army has opened a thrift store in Chino.
About 50 shoppers, and a few local dignitaries, gathered recently at the store at 5250 E. Philadelphia St. to mark the facility’s opening, according to a Salvation Army statement.
“We’re so happy to welcome the Salvation Army thrift store to Chino,” said Councilman Christopher Flores in the statement. “I see it as a remarkable addition that brings affordable shopping options while supporting a life-changing program.”
The 10,000-square-foot store is in a shopping center whose tenants include Big 5 Sporting Goods and Chuck E. Cheese. It is the sixth Salvation Army facility that helps pay for the charitable organization’s Adult Rehabilitation Center in San Bernardino.
“It’s a prime location that makes it easy for the community to shop and donate,” said Piers Fairclough, spokesman for the adult rehabilitation centers, in the statement.
