San Bernardino County collects three state awards

San Bernardino County has again been recognized by the California State Association of Counties for its handling of the pandemic.

Setting up the state’s first COVID-19 vaccine redistribution hub and using GIS technology to distribute CARES Act funds to businesses both earned the county Merit Awards from the association, according to a statement on the county’s website.

Searching for credit card skimming devices during fuel dispenser inspections earned San Bernardino County a third Merit Award, which recognizes best practices in county government.

“The county is using technology and the knowledge and hard work of our employees to improve health outcomes, save taxpayer money and help local businesses thrive,” said Curt Hagman, board of supervisors chairman, in the statement. “It is an honor to be recognized by our peers as one of the finest organizations in California.”

San Bernardino has received 41 awards from the association during the past 12 years, according to the statement.
