Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday Morning at 9:30 on AM590

Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday morning at 9:30 on AM590 with host Ed Hoffman as he discusses national current events and politics, with a few mortgage tips along the way. Ed delivers intelligent, entertaining radio that makes hard news easy to understand!

This week, Ed starts the show by recapping the tragedy at Umpqua Community College in Oregon. More details are being revealed about shooter Chris Mercer, and Ed has some pointed commentary on them. This isn’t more of the same gun control debate; this is opinion that thinking listeners will find refreshing, particularly if they are troubled by the shooter asking the victims if they were Christians. Ed will also touch on the President jumping into the event, which is troubling because he has not yet addressed the nation on Syria yet (as of Ed’s Friday recording). You don’t want to miss it.

Next, Ed discusses Russia’s airstrikes in Syria, something that was not agreed on during President Obama’s meeting with Vladimir Putin just days earlier. Ed breaks down this foreign policy debacle in the simplest way possible, including a recap of the events leading to Obama making the now-famous “red line” comment in 2011 – and, information about the $41 million the U.S. gave to train a grand total of 54 Syrians to fight ISIS; these are rebels who have demonstrated that all along, they only intended to fight Syrian president Bashir Al-Assad. Now, Russia is in Syria and we can’t be sure whether they are fighting ISIS or trying to back Assad – and as if that wasn’t bad enough, the Iranians joined Russia as of Thursday in this effort. If you need a quick tutorial on the situation, The Main Event is the place to get it.

After that, it’s on to a report on the two Army comrades who were penalized by the Army for beating up an Afghan police commander as he raped a young boy. If you aren’t familiar with this story, you need to tune in to The Main Event this week. “What’s going on in this country?” Ed says. “We’re kicking out good Army personnel for standing up for what’s right.”

In the second half, Ed talks to U.S. Senate Candidate Tom Del Beccaro, a Republican who is running for the seat being vacated by Barbara Boxer (D-CA). Del Beccaro has a tax plan that listeners can get excited about, and his insights are fascinating. “You want a tax code that results in economic expansion,” he says. “The most important thing is whether there’s opportunity, because when the economy expands, you see over a five-year period, the people in the bottom 20 percent move up the ladder.” He explains this proves false the left’s idea that the bottom tier of earners is fixed.

Del Beccaro is being endorsed by Heritage Foundation economist Stephen Moore; he references Moore’s insights regarding high tax rates’ impact on the economy. “The bottom 90 percent of America has lost about $1,600 in wages over the past seven years,” he says. “They have lost under the current system, with high tax rates, lots of regulations and debt.” He goes on to say that the only way to get us out of the rut is with lower tax rates. If you are concerned about the future of the American economy, the viability of the tax system and a plan for making Americans prosperous again, tune in to The Main Event this week to hear from U.S. Senate candidate Tom Del Beccaro and visit DelBeccaroForSenate.com.
