Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday Morning at 9:30 on AM590

Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday morning at 9:30 on AM590 with host Ed Hoffman as he discusses national current events and politics, with a few mortgage tips along the way. Ed delivers intelligent, entertaining radio that makes hard news easy to understand!

This week, Ed starts things off by talking about the memorial service for the five officers who were gunned down by an ex-Marine sniper in Dallas last week. President Obama “started out sounding like a President” in his address at the service, Ed says, but very quickly he veered off into furthering his agenda by trying to make the service about race relations, Black Lives Matter and Alton Sterling instead.

“Remember, this is a memorial service for police officers who put their lives on the line every day to protect us. They have wives and kids; when they go off to work, that family expects them to come home. Obama had the gall to bring race into their eulogy.” If you were upset by the President’s inappropriate funeral comments this week, listen to The Main Event to hear a host who agrees with you.

He has the real story on Alton Sterling and Philandro Castile, and hopes that people will listen with an open mind. Even more so, Ed says, he hopes that people who are inclined to believe allegations against the police will pause and say, “Hey, before we start shooting cops, let’s find out the story.” He’ll tell those stories on this week’s show, including the facts on the Sterling and Castile’s gun possessions, their police records, and their interactions with the officers involved.

As we near the end of the first half, Ed’s talking about Donald Trump announcing that Indiana Governor Mike Pence will be his running mate. Ed reads Trump’s announcement that was tweeted on Friday morning and reminds listeners that the Saturday news conference will have taken place by the time the show airs. “I wanted Gingrich, but he picked Mike Pence and we hope for the best,” Ed says.

In the second half, we’re talking about Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg disgracing the court when she violated protocol by speaking out on a presidential candidate; of course, that candidate was Donald Trump. “I guess this whole Supreme Court thing is a part-time gig for her,” Ed says. “She’s about 103 years old and she always looks like she’s asleep. Maybe at some point in your life, you get to a point where you lose your edge and being one of the nine people who decides top-level legal opinions in this country isn’t for you anymore.”

On this week’s show, you’ll also hear about:

  • The hypocrisy of Bernie Sanders endorsing Hillary this week. “Can you say two-faced?” Ed says. “I don’t think those two are really on the same page.”
  • Attorney General Loretta Lynch refusing to answer questions asked by Congress. “This is such BS,” Ed says. “You’re the highest law enforcer in the land. I thought she had some backbone – apparently not.”
  • The attack in Nice, France on Thursday. “84 people dead,” Ed says. “You’re going to have to start being careful where you take your kids now, because people don’t want to do the right thing, by actually dealing with the terrorism issue, keeping bad people out of our country and keeping us safe.”

As the show winds down, Ed plays audio of General Michael Flynn and former Speaker Newt Gingrich responding to the attack; if you haven’t heard their fiery words yet, tune in to The Main Event this week.
