Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday Morning at 9:30 on AM590

Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday morning at 9:30 on AM590 with host Ed Hoffman as he discusses national current events and politics, with a few mortgage tips along the way. Ed delivers intelligent, entertaining radio that makes hard news easy to understand!

This week, Ed starts the show with some sad family news. “My brother-in-law Doug Powell passed away last night,” he says. “He was a staunch Republican, so I want to start out the show by saying rest in peace, brother.’

Then, it’s all about Democratic National Convention and the chaos that surrounded it. After a week where Americans were told that Republicans are the party with a unity problem, news broke that Democrats have some pretty big problems of their own. Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz resigned on Monday thanks to WikiLeaks publishing 20,000 emails between Schultz and other DNC staff – emails that proved the DNC had been trying to sabotage Bernie Sanders’ campaign. If you have it out for the DNC like Ed does, tune in to this week’s show to hear someone who agrees with you.

As the show moves on, we’re talking about the disunity of the convention, which culminated in shouting matches between Clinton and Sanders supporters. “Even with this stuff going on, Bernie still won 22 states,” Ed says. “You know what’s funny? It’s not that Bernie’s message is so great…it’s that people hate Hillary so much.”

Ed has analysis of all the big DNC speeches this week, from Elizabeth Warren to the First Lady, and from Vice President Biden to Tim Kaine to President Obama – and of course, Bill and Hillary Clinton themselves. If Bill’s speech made you scratch your head and wonder who this wonderful woman he was talking about it, you don’t want to miss this week’s show. “I’m married to my best friend too,” Ed says, “and that’s why I don’t cheat on her.” You’ll also hear Newt Gingrich’s amusing take on the speech from the former President, who Gingrich called “old Uncle Bill the storyteller.”

In the second half, there’s more fun analysis of the speeches and personalities that made up the DNC. Of Tim Kaine, Ed says, “I don’t think Hillary wanted to nominate a Vice President who’s more of a man than she is, and I think she succeeded. This guy came across a little light in the loafers.”

On this week’s show, you’ll also hear:

  • Ed’s take on the allegations that Trump stiffed contractors
  • Which Michelle Obama line used in her speech that she’s used countless times before
  • What Ed thinks of Joe Biden’s declaration that President Obama is the “embodiment of honor, resolve and character”
