After 54 years in business, a U-Haul repair shop in San Bernardino is closing its doors.
The facility at 891 S. Arrowhead Ave. which opened in 1971, laid off 37 employees last month after suspending all repair and maintenance work, according to a statement released July 23 by U-Haul.
The company will maintain ownership of the property, which is home to the U-Haul Company of San Bernardino’s regional offices. The repair shop will be converted into a 30,000-square-foot warehouse that will store up to 2,500 of U-Haul’s portable moving containers.
Starting July 23, a repair shop at 1235 E. Baseline Road will service U-Haul rental equipment in the region.
Founded in 1945, U-Haul operates more than 24,000 rental locations in 50 states and 10 Canadian provinces, according to the statement.
