UCR receives Carnegie designation

UCR student body continues to grow

UC Riverside had an enrollment of 26,426 students during the 2023 fall semester, a 10-year increase of more than 5,000 students, according to a statement.

The number of California freshmen enrolled last fall – 5,209 – was the second-highest in UC Riverside’s history and only 10 students fewer than the campus record that was set in fall of 2016, the university reported on its website.

Forty-six percent of UC Riverside’s student body last fall received a Pell Grant, which is a federal stipend for low-income students. Fifty percent of the school’s undergraduates were first-generation college students, while Latino and Asians each comprised about 35 percent of the student population.

Application numbers to the UC system for the fall 2024 term are expected to be released in the next few weeks, according to the statement.
