Walmart, subcontractor reach agreement with warehouse workers

Walmart and the logistics company that it uses for import distribution have agreed to settle a dispute regarding wage and hour violations at several Inland Empire warehouse-distribution operations.

Schneider Logistics Inc. in Wisconsin will pay $21 million in unpaid wages and penalties in connection with violations that happened for more than a decade, according to multiple published reports.

The settlement, which was announced Wednesday, will apply to more than 1,800 people who worked from 2001 to 2013 at three Schneider Logistics facilities in Mira Loma.

The agreement does not say whether Walmart will contribute to the payment, according to the reports.

In November 2012, the workers filed a class-action lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles. The suit alleged the workers were not paid in compliance with state and federal regulations and were not paid overtime, according to the reports.
