Corona company must pay unpaid wages

An automobile restoration business in Corona will pay more than $150,000 in fines for underpaying their employees for more than two years.

West Coast Customs and its owner, Ryan Friedlinghaus, have agreed to the settlement with the U.S. Department of Labor, according to a report published by The Press-Enterprise.

The back wages will be paid to 45 employees, and the company will also pay $16,830 in civil penalties, the report stated.

A labor department investigation found that some employees who were denied overtime earned only $6 per hour, well below state and federal pay standards.

West Coast Customs was founded in 1993. It gained notoriety from the television show “Pimp My Ride,” which premiered on MTV in 2004 and attracted numerous celebrities.
