Moreno Valley to spruce up parks

Moreno Valley will spend $6 million renovating its parks.

The city council Tuesday unanimously approved the Parks Rehabilitation & Refurbishment Program, the larges project of its kind in Moreno Valley’s 38-year history, according to a statement.

“Our 33 parks are the crown jewels of Moreno Valley,” Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez said in. The statement. “Being good stewards of our city means investing in our infrastructure, and this program ensures that our parks will continue to thrive for decades to come.”

Upgrades will include basketball/sport court resurfacing, new playgrounds, restroom renovations and additions, parking lot resurfacing and new drinking fountains.

Work is expected to begin by the end of this year and be finished by next summer, according to the statement.
