Riverside gets housing grant

Grant program aimed helping restaurants

Hemet has launched a program designed to help the city’s restaurant owners.

The City of Hemet Kitchen Grant Program is the second phase of an initiative operated by the city’s economic development department that was previously restricted to downtown, according to a statement on the city’s website.

Seven hundred thousand dollars is available to qualified applicants who want to establish or expand their commercial kitchens. Applicants are required to pay 20 percent of their project’s cost, with successful applicants exempt from planning and building permit fees.

Applications will be accepted until 5:30 p.m. March 15.

“Supporting small businesses and fostering entrepreneurship are key priorities for the City of Hemet,” said City Manager, Mark Prestwich in the statement. “The Kitchen Grant Program represents an investment in local talent, and it helps create spaces that contribute to our community’s economy.”
