The first recreational vehicle has been produced at Forest River’s new manufacturing plant in Hemet.
A Salem Cruise Lite model was finished and rolled off the assembly line Tuesday, about one week after work began at the facility on Mayberry Avenue, according to a report in The Press-Enterprise.
The factory formerly belonged to Skyline RV but has essentially been empty for three years. Forest River moved there recently and plans to manufacture a variety of recreational vehicles there.
Once the plant is operating at full capacity, it will be able to assemble a trailer in two days, the report stated.
Forest River has hired 80 employees and plans to double that workforce eventually. Pay starts at $10 to $12 an hour, and workers are eligible to earn more based on production, according to the report.
