Job Fair Draws Huge Crowd

More than 25,000 people attended a job fair in Moreno Valley held by Aldi, the supermarket chain that is planning a major move into the Southern California market next year.

“It was a lot bigger than we expected,” said Mike Lee, Moreno Valley’s economic development director, of the three-day event. “I think it was a lot bigger than Aldi expected.”

The job fair was held Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Aldi’s recently-completed western regional headquarters and warehouse-distribution center at 12661 Aldi Place.

The company accepted applications for warehouse positions, specifically selector and receiver positions, according to a statement.

Aldi operates more than 1,500 stores in 32 states and employs more than 20,000 people in those locations. The chain plans to open 45 stores in Southern California by the end of 2016, including a site under construction at the TownGate Promenade Shopping Center in Moreno Valley.

“It’s a great thing for Moreno Valley,” Lee said of Aldi’s logistics center-regional headquarters. “It shows how much development is happening in our community.”
