Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday morning at 9:30 on AM590 with host Ed Hoffman as he discusses national current events and politics, with a few mortgage tips along the way. Ed delivers intelligent, entertaining radio that makes hard news easy to understand!
This week, the show is all about the two major events on the national stage. It starts with a recap of the State of the Union address on Tuesday, and the final one of Obama’s presidency. “Thank God,” Ed says. “He promised at the beginning to make it short, but he lied as usual.” Tune in to the show for analysis, including Ed’s take on Obama’s State of the Union code words. Here’s a hint: One of them is “some group,” and Ed promises to tell you what that really means! He’ll also pontificate on Obama’s policy positions like free pre-K and community college: “You know what the value of something you get for free is? Exactly what you pay for it.”
And, you don’t want to miss Ed’s hilarious reaction to one of the President’s most unique ideas: “I personally feel a lot better knowing that the task of curing cancer is being led by Joe Biden,” he says. There’s also lots to be said about the Obamacare portion of the speech, and of course, ISIS and Muslim extremism. “ISIS might not be an existential threat,” Ed says, “but they sure do threaten our way of life.” If you’re tired of political correctness in our government, tune in to The Main Event this week because Ed has words for everyone from Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz to Secretary of State John Kerry.
Next it’s on to the Republican presidential debate Thursday, the first of 2016 and the next to last one before the Iowa Caucus. On the main stage was Trump, Carson, Cruz, Rubio, Christie, Bush and Kasich, and Ed plays clips of each of them. When it comes to the “birther” feud between Ted Cruz and Donald Trump, Ed sides with Trump and has a detailed answer why he does; if this is an area of interest to you, don’t miss out on this week’s show because Ed goes over Constitutional language, legal statutes and other important history on the subject. He even has a quick recap of Trump’s family tree, which you’ll find interesting if you sided with Ted Cruz on Thursday.
On this week’s show, you’ll also hear:
- Ben Carson’s “you said everybody” joke
- Trump’s big response to Cruz’s “New York values” insult
- Who Ed thinks should have been invited to the State of the Union
