Corona passes severe water restrictions

Corona residents who have lawns will have to cut their watering in half or risk being fined $1,000 a month.

The city council last week passed that measure unanimously in an attempt to cut the city’s yearly water use by more than two billion gallons, according to a report in The Press-Enterprise.

The new restrictions will begin next month. Corona also will not allow lawn watering within two days after a rainstorm, and watering the turf in the median of city parkways will also be curtailed, the report stated.

Indoor water use will not be affected by the restrictions. By law, each state resident is allotted 60 gallons of potable water a day.
