County Pushes Safety Smartphone App

San Bernardino County public safety officials are encouraging county residents to use a new smartphone app that was created by the county’s Office of Emergency Services and QuickSeries Publishing.

The app, ReadySB, provides residents with multiple resources that will help them prepare for and respond to a disaster, according to a statement posted this week on the county’s website.

ReadySB, the first app of its kind in California, allows the user to create their own emergency supply checklist.

It also includes push notifications from OES that tell a person instantly about an emergency in their area, information on traffic and evacuation shelters, and resource lists for agencies like the Red Cross, Animal Care & Control and various county agencies.

ReadySB, which was created with a grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, can be used with or without an Internet connection. It’s free and can be downloaded from the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store, according to the statement.
