Decision on liquor license delayed

The Pomona City Council has postponed a decision on whether to allow a Walmart to sell alcohol.

The council was to have voted Monday on a recommendation by the planning commission to grant a Walmart Neighborhood Market a license to sell alcoholic beverages, but that action has been delayed until May 4, according to a report in the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin.

Councilwoman Paula Lantz was absent Monday, and her fellow council members preferred having every member present for the vote.

The store, at 779 E. Arrow Highway in north Pomona, is near Pomona High School. Some residents have questioned selling alcohol close to a school, the report stated.
