The Inland Empire posted a 5.1 percent unemployment rate in March, essentially unchanged from February and within one percent of the forecast of March 2025, according to a report.
Between February and March, non-agricultural employment in Riverside and San Bernardino counties increased by 4,900 jobs, to a total of 1,715,600 jobs, the state Employment Development Department reported.
Agriculture added 100 jobs during that time.
Private education and health services added 6,400 jobs month-over-month, while government added 2,700 jobs. Local government gained 2,400 jobs, the most within the government sector, followed by state government (+300). Federal jobs were unchanged.
Three other sectors gained jobs between the second and third months of 2026, including construction, which added 600 jobs.
Year-over-year, non-agricultural employment in the two-county region increased by 3.900 jobs, a 0.2 percent increase. Private education and health services added, 21,200 jobs during the year, the most of any sector, the department reported.
