The Inland Empire posted a 5.1 percent unadjusted unemployment rate in December, down from a revised 5.5 percent in November, according to the state Employment Development Department.
Non-agricultural jobs in Riverside and San Bernardino counties increased by 1,000 month-over-month, with trade, transportation and utilities (+3,400) recording the largest increase in that category, the department reported.
Two sectors – private education-health services and professional-business services – added 200 jobs each. Construction lost 1,200 jobs during the last month of 2025, the most of any Inland any sector. Four other sectors lost jobs in December, including “other services,” which dropped 1,000 jobs.
Between December 2024 and December 2025, non-agricultural employment in the two-county region increased by 3,200, a 0.2 percent hike. Private education and health services added 15,400 jobs, the most of any sector. Agricultural employment dropped 1,600 jobs in 2025, a decline of 10.7 percent, the department reported.
