The government shutdown put a dent into Ontario International Airport’s domestic passenger in count in November.
Domestic travelers last month totaled 536,287, a 5.7 percent year-over-year drop attributed in part to the Federal Aviation Administration ordering airlines to reduce domestic flights, according to the Ontario International Airport Authority.
That order, which included Ontario International, lasted 10 days.
The international passenger count in November was 57,512, a 77.8 percent drop and the highest in the history of the airport. Ontario International’s total passenger count was 593,799, only a 1.2 percent drop from November 2024.
Ontario International’s top five carriers in November were Southwest (36.4 percent), American (14.8 percent), Frontier (11.1 percent), Alaska (9.8 percent) and Delta (9.1 percent).
Ontario International accommodated more than 6.5 million passengers during the first 11 months of this year, up 0.5 percent compared with same period in 2024.
Air cargo declined by 2.4 percent in November year-over-year, according to the authority.
