Ontario International Airport is taking a victory lap.
The airport’s “Celebrating a Decade of Local Control” starts this month and will conclude Nov. 1, 2026, 10 years to the day ownership was transferred from Los Angeles World Airports to the Ontario International Airport Authority, according to a statement on Ontario International’s website.
The campaign’s theme is Reclaimed. Revived. Ready. It will include community and “pop-up” events, special merchandise, and digital storytelling.
“Ontario International was in a downward spiral a decade ago, but local leaders took steps to bring it back,” said Alan D. Wapner, authority president and Ontario council member, in the statement. “Today, Ontario International is thriving, (and is) a vital economic engine for the Inland Empire.”
Since the ownership transfer, Ontario International’s passenger volume has increased more than 70 percent. It serves more than seven million passengers annually.
“Ontario International’s return to local control stands as one of the Inland Empire’s great success stories,” said Curt Hagman, San Bernardino County, in the statement.
