UC Riverside and Cal State San Bernardino have been named among the most environmentally responsible institutions of higher learning in the United States by The Princeton Review.
The review’s 2024-’25 Guide to Green Colleges is based on surveys of college administrators regarding their school’s campus environmental policies, and student feedback, according to a statement on Cal State San Bernardino’s website.
The review “measures how well colleges support healthy and sustainable campus lifestyles, prepare students for careers in a green economy, and implement environmentally responsible policies and practices,” according to the statement.
“Since we debuted our Green Guide in 2010, we have seen dramatic growth in the number of colleges committing to sustainability practices—from constructing green-certified buildings to sourcing food locally,” said Rob Franek, Editor-in-Chief, The Princeton Review. “We applaud each one of the colleges that made our Guide’s 2026 edition, and we highly recommend these schools to students who want their ‘best-fit’ college to also be a green one.”
The study’s findings include 322 institutions in the United States, 33 in Canada, and 33 in 16 other countries. All college and universities were not ranked from higher or lowest, but are listed individually.
