Heather Dyer has been named general manager of the San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District.
A district employee since 2014, Dyer was named to the position at a recent board meeting following a statewide search, according to a statement.
She replaces Douglas D. Headrick, who is leaving after 10 years as general manager. Dyer is scheduled to begin her new duties Dec. 31, one day after Headrick is scheduled to step down.
“Ms. Dyer is the perfect candidate to lead Valley District into the future,” said board president T. Milford Harrison in the statement. “Her leadership and vision for the needs of the region, coupled with her experience working on regional and sustainable projects, have positioned her to propel Valley District forward.”
Dyer began her career as a biologist in south Louisiana and moved to Southern California in 2010. Since moving west she has focused on ecological and water supply issues of the Santa Ana River Watershed, according to the statement.
