Inland food bank helps Hurricane Helene victims

Inland food named top local nonprofit

The Inland Empire’s largest food bank has been named Nonprofit of the Year in 2024 by the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce.

Feeding America Riverside/San Bernardino was recognized for its hunger relief programs during the chambers’ annual recognition dinner March 20 at the Riverside Convention Center, according to a statement.

“This award is a testament to the dedication of our team, who work tirelessly every day to support our neighbors in Riverside and beyond,” said Carolyn Fajardo, the food bank’s chief executive officer, in the statement. “I am proud to lead such an extraordinary group of individuals committed to making a difference in our community.”

Last year, Feed America’s Inland chapter opened its Hunger Resource Center in Riverside, began construction and food sourcing for the Fresh Start Pantry by Goodman, and expanded its SNAP Resource Center to provide community resources beyond food, according to the statement.
