Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday morning at 9:30 on AM590 with host Ed Hoffman as he discusses national current events and politics, with a few mortgage tips along the way. Ed delivers intelligent, entertaining radio that makes hard news easy to understand!
As Ed records this week’s show, the funeral of Nancy Reagan is happening and Ed remarks on some of the people who came to pay their respects – one of them being 1980s icon Mr. T, who is sitting with Ed’s new friend Gary Sinise. “I never got to meet Mr. T, but I financed a home for the mother of his son,” Ed says. Next, Ed addresses the breaking news that the Wounded Warrior Foundation fired two executives after lavish staff expenses were discovered in the veterans charity. If you love to support wounded vets and you want to support a charity that devotes 100% of its funds to veterans services, Ed encourages you to check out his own veterans organization, WCC Charities. Visit www.WCCcharities.org to find out how you can get involved! By donating, you can help Ed and his team meet their goal so they can retrofit a house for a deserving, triple-amputee veteran right here in Southern California.
Also in the first half, Ed recaps some of the Democratic debate on Wednesday. If you haven’t yet heard the impressive questions that Univision’s Jorge Ramos threw Hillary Clinton, tune in to this week’s show! Ramos asked Clinton about everything from questions on her lies about the terror attack in Benghazi on September 11, 2012 to the stinging question on her email scandal, “Would you drop out of the race if you get indicted?” Ed wonders, “I wonder if they’re dragging their feet on prosecuting her until after the election so Obama can’t pardon her.” There’s also a great deal of analysis on Clinton’s answers to Ramos’ Benghazi questions – and if you haven’t yet heard Benghazi victim Sean Smith’s mother speaking on the lies she was told by Clinton, it’s riveting audio you can hear on this week’s show.
In the second half, Ed recaps some of the Republican debate on Thursday. Ed, now a Trump supporter, plays some of Trump’s strongest moments from the debate – including his answers on using the H1B Visa to hire foreign workers. Ed says, “If he didn’t do things to cut costs for his business, everyone would be saying he didn’t do what he could to save his businesses from bankruptcy. He can’t win.” Ed also thinks Ted Cruz was unfair to attack Trump for his political donations. “I don’t have anywhere near his kind of money, and I have people calling me day and night for political causes,” Ed says. “Sometimes it’s just easier to give them some.”
You’ll also hear Marco Rubio talk about his parents once more, which Ed remarks was later followed by talking about his grandparents too. “We’re not electing your ancestors,” Ed says. “We’re talking about why we should vote for you!” Rubio gave one answer that was interesting on immigration, though, and Ed expounds on that with some analysis of the Immigration Act of 1965. There’s a little bit of history on this week’s show, and Ed explains it with his trademark wit! Speaking of immigration, there was something a little familiar in Ted Cruz’s immigration plan…something that sounds an awful lot like Trump’s immigration plan. “It’s a little something called a wall,” Ed says. “Do you think Cruz will really build it, though? I think Trump will.” Overall, Ed says, “I think if we nominate Trump, he will do a good job.” Throughout the debate, Ed says, “Trump acted calm, cool and presidential.” He plays some of those moments on this week’s show so listeners who believe the media mantra that Trump is a “disease” can hear another side of him.
