Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday morning at 9:30 on AM590 with host Ed Hoffman as he discusses national current events and politics, with a few mortgage tips along the way. Ed delivers intelligent, entertaining radio that makes hard news easy to understand!
This week, we’re talking “Super Tuesday 2” results. The most updated Republican delegate count this week stands at Trump 678, Cruz 413, Rubio 169 and Kasich 143 – and although Rubio has more delegates than Kasich, the fact that he lost his home state of Florida (where he is Senator) essentially forced him to suspend his campaign. With that in mind, Ed stand brings on guests Bruce Bloomberg and Scott McAfee to help him analyze where things stand.
Some of the conversation includes:
- “Cruz is the most disciplined individual,” Bruce says. “He’s not a soundbite.” Ed disagrees, pointing out Cruz’s many ethical double standards and dirty tricks against the other candidates. “All those little things,” Ed says, “and then he smiles and tries to look innocent…he just doesn’t seem genuine on some things.”
- “The first thing you have to be President is to surround yourself with people who know what you don’t know,” Ed says. “I do this at my own company.” He feels that should negate the argument that Trump isn’t qualified.
- “You’re going to get radical change, whether it’s Ted Cruz or Donald Trump,” Scott says. “But with Trump, you really don’t know what that change will look like.” Bruce agrees, saying that Trump’s “QVC”-style press conference last week was embarrassing and unnecessary. Ed defends some of Trump’s tactics and criticizes others; tune in this week to hear it!
In the second half, we’re talking about the strong possibility of a contested Republican convention in July and what will happen to Marco Rubio’s 169 delegates. If you’ve been hearing the talk about the possibility of a contested convention and want to understand it better, tune in to The Main Event this week!
You’ll also hear about the secret meeting that happened with some Republican establishment types this week, where it was discussed whether Donald Trump should be forced to run third party. “One of the things I think and hope will happen,” Ed says, “is that Trump will start acting more presidential and that he’ll explain: ‘Look, I had to do what I had to do to knock out 16 other candidates to beat Hillary Clinton and turn this country around.”
On this week’s show, you’ll also hear:
- Thoughts on Obama’s Supreme Court nomination of Judge Merrick Garland
- Bruce’s insights on why Jewish Americans tend to vote Democrat
- Where Ed got his CCW training – it’s a local company he hopes you will support
