Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday morning at 9:30 on AM590 with host Ed Hoffman as he discusses national current events and politics, with a few mortgage tips along the way. Ed delivers intelligent, entertaining radio that makes hard news easy to understand!
This week, the show is all about the Republican National Convention. Ed recaps the RNC with the insight and perspective that listeners have come to expect. On night one, the star speaker was former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. If you missed the convention or you just loved what Rudy had to say, tune in to The Main Event to hear the speech that everyone’s still talking about. When Rudy spells out who America’s enemy is – radical Islamic terror – Ed says, “I’m so glad the political correctness is out the window.”
Also on Monday night, Melania Trump delivered an eloquent speech about her upbringing, her pride in becoming an American citizen and her admiration for her husband. But before the night was over, the only thing the media wanted to focus on were her speech’s similarities to Michelle Obama’s 2008 address at the DNC. Ed plays the portions of the speech that are in question back-to-back with Michelle Obama’s address and quips, “Oh my God, can you believe she used those exact words? I didn’t know Michelle Obama had the copyright on words like, ‘Dream big and work hard.’” We’re also talking about the RNC speakers who roundly condemned Hillary Clinton, from Sean Smith’s mother to Governor Chris Christie to Donald Trump Jr.
Speaking of Donald Trump Jr., Ed devotes time to talking about the speeches of Donald Jr., Eric and Ivanka Trump. “The Trump kids, to me, were the stars of this convention,” he says. Like many Trump supporters, Ed feels that the character of Trump’s children speaks volumes about who Trump is as a person (and has some personal application thoughts on that, as a dad of three adult children himself). If you were impressed with the Trump kids and want to hear from someone who agrees with you, tune in to The Main Event this week.
The Trump children’s’ speeches continue in the second half. Eric Trump stated that his charitable foundation was not about personal gain, referring to Bill and Hillary’s cash cow the Clinton Foundation; to see how the Trump’s foundation is completely different, Ed encourages everyone to Google the Eric Trump Foundation to see some of the incredible work they’ve done around the world. “They built an entire hospital in Manilla,” Ed says. “These kids are a shining beacon for who Donald Trump is.” Ed also reminds listeners that his company has its own foundation, WCC Charities, which can be supported at WCCcharities.org. “Go on there and see some of the stuff our organization is doing,” Ed urges.
As we near the end of the show, Ed addresses the “party unity” theme of this election year’s RNC. You’ll hear from both Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, who stressed party unity in his speech, and Senator Ted Cruz, who refused to uphold his pledge to support the party nominee. “He looked like a sore loser and a whiner,” Ed says. He agrees with the Texas delegate who told Cruz the next day, “This isn’t about you. This is about the United States of America.” Closing out the show is African-American female Trump executive Lynne Patton, who told the world about her respect and admiration for her boss, Donald Trump.
