Apple Valley has received a $9.9 million federal grant that it will use for street improvements.
That funding from the Safe Streets for All program will help pay for upgrades along 3.4 miles of Dale Evans Parkway, Thunderbird Road, and Otoe Road, according to a statement on the town’s website.
The Complete Streets Implementation Project will install protected pedestrian and bicycle facilities, high-visibility crosswalks, and curb ramps that are compliant with the Americans With Disability Act.
The improvements will increase access to underserved parts of the town. They’re designed to create safe routes to schools, parks, transit, healthcare, and employment centers.
A construction timeline has not been announced. Apple Valley plans to add $2.5 million from its Measure I transportation funds to the federal grant, according to the statement.
