Victorville is looking to fill the vacant seat on its city council.
The council voted Nov. 5 to appoint someone to replace Debra Jones, who stepped down from the council in August for family reasons, according to a statement on the city’s website.
A special election would have cost the High Desert city approximately $420,000, according to reports.
Jones represented the second district. Her successor will serve out the remainder of her term, which lasts until December 2026.
Anyone who wants to be considered for the seat should email a letter of interest and resume to cityclerk@victorvilleca.gov no later than 5 p.m. on Nov. 14. Applicants must live in District Two, be registered to vote, and be able to attend council meetings, which are held the first and third Tuesday of each month starting at 5 p.m.
The council has not said when it will vote on Jones’ successor. For more information call (760) 955-5029 or visit cityclerk@victorvilleca.gov.
