CSUSB raises money for scholarships

Cal State San Bernardino raised $61,000 for student scholarships in a one-day campaign conducted this month.

Held Dec. 1, Giving Tuesday will provide 50 students with $1,000 stipends for the 2021-2022 academic year, according to a statement on the school’s website.

This year’s campaign exceeded expectations by $11,000.

“I am so proud of our CSUSB family for coming together and selflessly donating to support our students,” said Robert J. Nava, vice president for University Advancement and executive director of the university’s Philanthropic Foundation, in the statement. “Thank you to everyone who donated. Your generosity will help deserving students.”

Besides being among the top students in their classes, scholarship recipients also have a record of community service.

About 300 people donated this year, and the university matched the first $10,000 raised dollar for dollar. Giving Tuesday is held every year on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.
