Hemet has scheduled three public meetings to discuss Measure Q, the proposed one-cent sales tax on the Nov. 3 ballot.
If approved, Measure Q will help pay for infrastructure and public safety, including better 911 response times, maintaining police and fire protection, business attraction and retention, and street repairs, according to a statement on the city’s website.
Hemet continues to face demand for more services, and it’s using reserves to balance its budget. Its structural deficit is projected to reach several million dollars in the coming years, according to the statement.
The meetings will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 16, 10 a.m., to noon Sept. 26, and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 16. All will he held at the Hemet Public Library, 300 E Latham Ave.
