A long-planned widening of Murrieta Hot Springs Road in Murrieta is underway.
The project, which will run from Magarita Road to Winchester Road, will convert the thoroughfare into six lanes from Via Princesa East to Delhaven Street, according to a statement on the city’s website.
That will require one new lane in each direction. Other planned improvements include pavement upgrades, new sidewalks and bicycle lanes in each direction, improved street lights, construction of retaining and planter walls. Curb ramps compliant with the Americans With Disabilities Act will also be built.
Some work is being done between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to lessen the traffic slowdown during the daytime. No full street closures are expected.
Cost of the project is approximately $15 million. Construction is expected to be completed next spring, according to the statement.

It is positive and progressive. It takes money, maturity on the part of drivers, lots of patience. Safety and respect for the workers, and driver attention to directives is a priority. For many, taking other routes may be a bit more time consuming but certainly assist with traffic progressions. I would to say kudos to all those who give a hoot and use common sense and courtesy throughout this construction project of proportion.
