Moreno Valley has said no to a 45-day ban on warehouse construction.
In a 3-2 vote cast Feb. 3, the city council declined to join several other Inland Empire cities, including Perris and Hemet, that recently said no to logistics development within their borders, according to multiple reports.
The vote was in favor of the ban, but four votes were needed for the ban to take place.
An estimated one billion square feet of industrial space is located in the Inland region, making it one of the two-county region’s largest employers, as well as the logistics capital of the western United States. That has caused some Inland cities to pause and reassess their policies regarding warehouse development.
Several logistics projects in Moreno Valley remain on hold until the city updates its general plan, according to reports.

The investors are the only ones are receiving the benefits while the citizens struggle with overwhelming traffic, horrible road conditions and congestion, health issues and continuous growth of warehouse expansion while the ones built are not occupied. Tax payers/local citizens in these IE are the ones who will bear the cost in the long run for something that they did not have input to being part of their communities…
