Redlands to redraw council districts

MoVal program will educate residents about city government

Starting next month, Moreno Valley will hold the first of six classes designed to teach residents how their city operates.

The inaugural Citizens Academy was approved by the city council this month and is accepting applications up to Oct. 3, according to a statement on the city’s website.

All sessions are free of charge and will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at various city facilities. The first session, which will deal with administrative services, will take place Oct. 15 at city hall, 14177 Frederick St.

“We are committed to building trust and transparency through open communication with our residents,” said Mayor Ulises Cabrera in the statement. “The Citizens Academy is an opportunity for the community to see how city hall works, connect with our team, and gain knowledge that makes a lasting impact.”

The program is being paid for by the Moreno Valley Community Foundation. Participants must be 18 years or older and live in, or own a business in, Moreno Valley.
