Palm Springs has completed a technology upgrade at one of its community centers.
Improvements at the James O. Jessie Desert Highland Unity Center, were paid for a with a $56,200 grant from the California Public Utilities Commission’s, according to a statement on the city’s website.
The city’s Information Technology Department oversaw the upgrades, which include more internet access, 16 computer workstations with new monitors, keyboards, mice, desks, and ergonomic chairs, and Wi-Fi coverage throughout the building.
“This is more than a technology improvement, it’s an investment in our residents and their future,” said Nicholas Gonzalez, parks and recreation director, in the statement.”
“Whether it’s for homework, job applications, or accessing critical services, our community now has the tools and connectivity to succeed.”
Located at 480 W. Tramview Road, the James O. Jessie Center provides multiple recreation and education services to residents of all ages, according to the statement.
