Parts of Moreno Valley Mall were shut down Feb. 19 due to unspecified health and safety code violations.
The closure will remain in place until repairs are made and the problems are corrected, according to a statement on the city’s website.
JCPenney, Macy’s and Harkins Theatres were not affected. Mall officials have ignored repeated requests to correct the code violations, which were reported to the city by CalFire, according to the statement.

“Macy’s and JCPenney are independently owned buildings at the Mall and will be permitted to remain open, as they have sufficient exits for their occupancy and provide their own appropriately maintained fire protection systems that are independent and separate from the Mall’s systems,” the statement reads. “Harkin’s Theaters will also remain open after making modifications to their normal business practices.”
Built in 1992, Moreno Valley Mall is a two-level enclosed shopping center at 22500 Town Circle.
