Edward Enriquez has been named Riverside’s interim city manager.
Enriquez, the city’s assistant city manager since 2022, takes over for Mike Futrell, who resigned June 16, according to reports.
Council members met in closed session during their regularly scheduled meeting that evening and discussed possibly discipling Futrell, whose agreement to become Pasadena’s city manager fell through in April.
Earlier this month. Futrell’s s wife filed a claim against the city. Futrell was placed on administrative leave.
Mayor Pro Tem Steven Robillard announced Enrquez’s appointment during a June 17 news conference at city hall.
“The council is pleased to announce that Edward Enriquez will serve as acting city manager during this transition period,” Robillard said. “Edward is a respected and experienced public servant who knows our organization well. We have full confidence in his ability to provide leadership while the council conducts a search for Riverside’s new city manager.”
