Riverside’s Arts and Culture District has been declared one 10 new culture districts statewide by the California Arts Council.
The designation will last from 2026 through 2030, and includes a $10,000 grant, along with access to technical assistance and marketing resources, according to a statement on the city’s website.
The latter includes resources from the Global Cultural Districts Network that Riverside’s ACD, as the district is commonly known, may use.
“This designation is a testament to the work that Riverside has put into creating the ACD,” Mayor Patricia Lock Dawson said in the statement. “We are eager to share our downtown, and its many arts offerings, with the rest of the state.”
The culture district program promotes the creation of areas devoted to cultural activity. Its goal is to preserve California’s heritage, attract tourism, and strengthen local economies, according to the statement.
