Riverside is trying to make it easier to move around and park within its downtown.
The Downtown Valet Program is a six-month pilot that will make it easier for patrons of restaurants, entertainment venues and businesses in downtown Riverside to reach their destinations quickly, according to a statement on the city’s website.
Scheduled to start at 5 p.m. Jan. 16, the program will include;
- Valet drop-off and retrieval at up to nine high-traffic downtown zones that will operate Fridays through Sundays from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.;
- A no-ticket system that will allow customers to request and pay for a vehicle via phone;
- Uniformed attendants, professional service and streamlined circulation, all of which will help reduce congestion in downtown corridors.
“While the program is a pilot and the city remains conservative in its projections, the focus is on building long-term value, not just in revenue but also in visitor satisfaction, business support and downtown vitality,” the statement reads.
The program will be reviewed in three months, and a final report will be presented to the city council in six months, according to the statement.
