Some Riverside facilities to reopen

Riverside reopened more city facilities Tuesday that were closed because of COVID-19.

In-person public comments also returned to city council meetings – the council met at 1 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall – although city officials will continue to provide virtual services, and email statements will still be accepted, according to a statement.

The move comes after the city improved regarding state guidelines that determine the severity of COVID-19.

“The City of Riverside is committed to providing high-quality services in a safe environment for the public and our employees,” Mayor Rusty Bailey said in the statement. “I encourage everyone to continue observing the safety measures that have allowed us to progress to this point.”

Facilities scheduled to reopen include

  • The OneStopShop at City Hall, which processes development requests;
  • Public utilities payment centers at 3901 Orange St. and 3025 Madison St.;
  • The passport acceptance facility at Casa Blanca Resource Center, 3025 Madison St.;
  • Police department lobbies, and playgrounds at most city parks.

All reopened facilities will require temperature checks and face coverings, and each will enforce social distancing regulations, according to the statement.
